Terms of use
Last updated: 28 April 2026
By using Altruism Choice you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short — this is a non-commercial academic research platform and the terms reflect that.
Voluntary participation
Participation in any study on Altruism Choice is voluntary. You may stop at any time without penalty. Closing the browser tab is sufficient; no completed-but-incomplete responses are recorded as your final answer unless you explicitly submit them.
No real donations
Allocations made on this platform are research scenarios, not real charitable transactions. The charities described in vignettes are hypothetical — they are authored research stimuli, not real organizations. No money is transferred and no real charity receives anything based on your responses.
Acceptable use
- Submit responses you actually believe (the data is for research; bad data harms the research).
- Do not attempt to bypass authentication or rate limits.
- Do not submit content (in suggestions or feedback) that is unlawful, harassing, or defamatory.
- Do not scrape or automate response submission.
Vignette suggestions
Signed-in users can suggest vignettes. By submitting a suggestion you grant the platform a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it for research and teaching purposes. You retain authorship credit in any publication derived from your contribution. Suggestions are moderated and may be edited or rejected at the operator's discretion.
Intellectual property
Charity descriptions, logos, and ratings shown on the platform are used under fair-use for educational and research purposes, with attribution where applicable.
No warranty
The platform is provided “as is”. Best-effort uptime, no SLA. The operator is not liable for incidental loss caused by platform downtime or data unavailability.
Withdrawal and data deletion
You may withdraw from a study, delete your account, and request data export or deletion at any time. See the Privacy Policy for the procedure.
