Help & FAQ

Common questions, in roughly the order they tend to come up. Anything missing? Get in touch.

What is Altruism Choice?
An academic research platform on charitable choice. You read short vignettes describing two hypothetical charities and decide how to split a notional budget between them. More about the project →
Do I need an account to participate?
No. Anonymous participation works for the full vignette flow. Sign in if you want a profile that aggregates your choices over time, the option to share your insights, and the ability to suggest new vignettes.
How long does a session take?
It depends — you choose how many vignettes to do per session at the start. Most sessions take a handful of minutes. You can stop at any time; submitted responses are saved.
How do classrooms work?
Instructors create a classroom and share an invite code with their students. Each classroom has its own dashboard with class-level analytics. Students don't need accounts — they participate via the classroom link. Get in touch via scirenity.com if you'd like to use the platform in a course.
Can I suggest a vignette?
Yes — any signed-in user can. Suggest a pair of charities and the moral factor at stake; submissions go through moderation and review before joining the active pool. There's a daily limit to keep moderation tractable.
How do I delete my data?
Get in touch via scirenity.com with the email address you used to sign up. Account data is deleted within 30 days. Anonymized response data is retained as part of the academic record but cannot be linked back to you. See the privacy policy →
